Case No. 19
The Adventure of the Missing Plans
FROM THE JOURNAL OF DR. WATSON.
Inventor Arnold Lampkin was an old college friend of Holmes', who used the great detective as a sounding board for his many inventions. When we received his message to come to his dockside premises to see his latest creation, Holmes and I caught a carriage and went straight away. Holmes went for curiosity sake and friendship; I enjoyed the chance to view the creations of Lampkin's fertile brain.
When we arrived, however, we found poor Lampkin dead in the open double doorway of his workshop. He had been heavily battered and beside the body was a strange "Z" shaped metal bar. No trace of his latest invention was to be found.
Lampkin's brother Horace said that Lampkin had been secretly working on some fantastic idea. Financier Alfred Sunbeam has asked Holmes to investigate not only the Inventor's death but to find his plans for the now missing invention. Sunbeam had put up the money for the project.
Holmes said he would deduce what happened without payment for Lampkin was an old friend.
Your mission
A careful analysis of the evidence would be required but he was confident that he could discover a) the location of the missing invention, b) the whereabouts of the plans and c) the killer.
The game is afoot!
